The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Extreme west central Minnesota

  Southern North Dakota

  Northern South Dakota



* Effective this Monday night and Tuesday morning from 735 PM

  until 200 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...A couple of corridors of severe storm development are

expected to persist into the early overnight hours, now starting

across southwestern North Dakota and northeastern South Dakota.

Other storms could eventually move into northwestern South Dakota

from Montana later tonight.  The storm environment will be

sufficient for supercells with large hail and damaging winds, and an

isolated tornado or two may also occur this evening across

northeastern South Dakota and vicinity.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55

statute miles north and south of a line from 35 miles northwest of

Buffalo SD to 100 miles east northeast of Aberdeen SD. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
