The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Western and central North Dakota



* Effective this Monday afternoon from 515 PM until Midnight CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorm development is expected by 23z near the

Montana/North Dakota border, and storms will subsequently spread

eastward through tonight.  The initial storm environment will favor

semi-discrete supercells in a broken band, capable of producing

large hail and damaging winds.  Some upscale growth into a squall

line is possible later this evening, with a continuing damaging wind

threat toward central North Dakota, prior to the storms weakening

near or just after midnight.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 75

statute miles east and west of a line from 55 miles north northwest

of Minot ND to 30 miles west of Lemmon SD. For a complete depiction

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A

few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm motion vector
