The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Much of eastern Lower Michigan

  Lake Erie

  Lake Huron



* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 1240 PM

  until 800 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Widespread damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75

    mph likely

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Clusters of severe storms will continue to spread quickly

northeastward across Lower Michigan through the afternoon, with

additional storm development expected across southeast Lower

Michigan.  The storm environment favors damaging winds, some

significant, with both bowing segments and supercells.  An isolated

tornado or two will also be possible, along with isolated large

hail.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles east and west of a line from 25 miles north of Oscoda

MI to 35 miles south southwest of Detroit MI. For a complete

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
