The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central and Eastern Nebraska



* Effective this Sunday afternoon from 545 PM until Midnight CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events

    to 2.5 inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Storms are expected to develop near an

east/southeastward-advancing cold front, initially across parts of

north-central Nebraska/Sandhills early this evening. An unstable air

mass along and ahead of the front will support the possibility of

severe thunderstorms including some supercells with large hail and

damaging winds as the primary hazards. Storms could reach parts of

south-central/east-central Nebraska by mid/late evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles east and west of a line from 35 miles north of Oneill

NE to 35 miles southwest of Kearney NE. For a complete depiction of

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
