The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Eastern Colorado

  Northwest Kansas

  Southwest/Central Nebraska



* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 305 PM until

  900 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events

    to 2 inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to develop

across the region this afternoon, initially across

northeast/east-central Colorado into southwest/south-central

Nebraska and northwest Kansas. Moderate instability/deep-layer shear

will support severe storms capable of hail/wind.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 105

statute miles east and west of a line from 55 miles west northwest

of Columbus NE to 50 miles south southeast of Burlington CO. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
