The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central and northern Iowa

  Southeast Minnesota



* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 845 PM

  until 300 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 80

    mph possible

  Isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter

    possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...A well-organized quasi-linear band of storms will continue

to quickly spread northeastward, mainly across portions of

central/northern Iowa through late evening with wind damage and some

hail the main hazards. Some severe risk may develop into southeast

Minnesota as well.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40

statute miles east and west of a line from 15 miles north of

Rochester MN to 55 miles south southwest of Knoxville IA. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
