The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  South Texas



* Effective this Sunday night and Monday morning from 740 PM

  until 300 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter

    possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Isolated severe thunderstorms should continue to increase

especially near the Rio Grande River vicinity this evening, with the

possibility of other storms gradually spreading in from Mexico

and/or south-central Texas. A very moist and unstable environment

will support the possibility of large hail and severe-caliber wind

gusts.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles north and south of a line from 25 miles west southwest

of Laredo TX to 10 miles north of Alice TX. For a complete depiction

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
