The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Parts of north central and central Texas



* Effective this Friday afternoon from 400 PM until Midnight CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5

    inches in diameter likely

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will increase in coverage/intensity through

the afternoon along a cold front that will accelerate southeastward

from Oklahoma into north Texas, while other more isolated storm

development could occur farther south along the dryline toward

central Texas.  Supercells will be possible for the first few hours

after storm initiation, with large hail the main threat.  An

isolated tornado will also be possible in the area generally to the

east and northeast of Dallas.  Otherwise, storms should gradually

become more of a line into this evening, with a continuing threat

for large hail and damaging winds.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80

statute miles north and south of a line from 45 miles south

southwest of Fort Worth TX to 15 miles north of Tyler TX. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
