The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Eastern and southern Louisiana

  Southern to east-central Mississippi

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Saturday morning and afternoon from 655 AM until

  200 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely



SUMMARY...Line of storms has intensified from central Louisiana to

southwest Mississippi. This will move steadily eastward through

midday with potential for a few tornadoes and strong to isolated

severe wind gusts.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 65 statute miles

east and west of a line from 70 miles north northwest of Meridian MS

to 55 miles southwest of Houma LA. For a complete depiction of the

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

surface and aloft to 1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind
