The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central and Northeast New Mexico



* Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 1230 PM until

  800 PM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events

    to 2 inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms are expected to intensify this afternoon

over central New Mexico, and spread eastward across the watch area.

Large hail and damaging wind gusts will be possible in the strongest

cells.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50

statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles northeast of

Raton NM to 30 miles southeast of Ruidoso NM. For a complete

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
