The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Northern and central Iowa

  Southern Minnesota



* Effective this Sunday morning from 410 AM until 1000 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

  Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...A fast-moving linear cluster of storms (Mesoscale

Convective System) will continue to race east/southeastward across

northern/central Iowa and southern Minnesota through the early

morning hours. These storms have a history of producing severe

winds. A 59 knot/68 mph measured wind gust was recently reported at

Spencer in northwest Iowa around 4am CDT.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50

statute miles east and west of a line from 45 miles northeast of

Fairmont MN to 45 miles south of Fort Dodge IA. For a complete

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
