The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central and eastern North Carolina

  Northeast South Carolina

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 1235 PM until

  800 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts

    to 75 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Outflow-dominated clusters should develop and spread east

this afternoon into early evening with damaging winds as the primary

threat. A tornado or two is possible across far eastern North

Carolina.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 90

statute miles east and west of a line from 75 miles east northeast

of Rocky Mount NC to 15 miles east of Myrtle Beach SC. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
