The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Far western portions of the Maryland Panhandle

  Western and central New York

  Eastern Ohio

  Western and central Pennsylvania

  Portions of northern West Virginia and the northern Panhandle

  Lake Erie

  Lake Ontario



* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 125 PM until

  900 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms continue to increase in coverage and

intensity this afternoon near and ahead of an advancing surface cold

front, where locally damaging winds and possibly hail can be

expected with stronger storms through early evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 95

statute miles east and west of a line from 40 miles northeast of

Rochester NY to 40 miles south southwest of Latrobe PA. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 55 knots. A
