The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central Illinois

  Extreme east central Missouri



* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 400 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will likely increase in coverage and

intensity late this afternoon along a cold front moving

southeastward across central Illinois and Missouri.  The storm

environment will favor a threat for damaging gusts and large hail

with the stronger storms through late this evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50

statute miles north and south of a line from 30 miles south of

Danville IL to 20 miles west northwest of Saint Louis MO. For a

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
