The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Southeastern and extreme south-central North Carolina

  Northeastern South Carolina

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Sunday morning and afternoon from 650 AM until

  500 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A couple tornadoes possible



SUMMARY...The tornado risk will shift gradually westward through the

daylight hours in step with continued inland penetration of the

remains of Florence.  The most supercell-favorable overlap of strong

low-level shear and marginal buoyancy will remain in the

northeastern sector of the circulation.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 50 statute miles

either side of a line from 35 miles south southwest of Wilmington NC

to 20 miles southwest of Southern Pines NC. For a complete depiction

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...This tornado watch replaces tornado

watch number 378. Watch number 378 will not be in effect after

650 AM EDT.



AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail

surface and aloft to 0 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind

gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean

storm motion vector 13535.
