The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Extreme southern Iowa

  Extreme northeastern Kansas

  Northwestern Missouri



* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 530 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A couple tornadoes possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Scattered discrete thunderstorms should persist from

northwestern Missouri into southern Iowa this evening, where the

storm environment favors supercells and some threat for a tornado or

two.  Farther west, a line of storms will move slowly eastward, with

isolated damaging gusts/hail, and perhaps a brief tornado for the

next few hours.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 45 statute miles

east and west of a line from 15 miles north northeast of Lamoni IA

to 25 miles southeast of Saint Joseph MO. For a complete depiction

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

surface and aloft to 1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind

gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean
