The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Eastern Georgia

  Much of central and southern South Carolina

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Friday morning and evening from 1045 AM until

  600 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A few tornadoes likely

  Widespread damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75

    mph likely

  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Broken band of storms, including embedded supercells and

bowing segments, will likely persist through the afternoon while

spreading eastward from Georgia into South Carolina.  Damaging winds

and a few tornadoes will be the main threats.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 75 statute miles

east and west of a line from 40 miles north of Columbia SC to 40

miles southeast of Vidalia GA. For a complete depiction of the watch
