The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Southeast New Mexico

  Far West Texas



* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 325 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3

    inches in diameter likely

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Scattered supercells should develop off the higher terrain

of Far West Texas and southeast New Mexico into early evening. Large

hail, some significant, and a few tornadoes are the primary hazards,

particularly across the Pecos Valley.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 85 statute miles

north and south of a line from 65 miles northeast of Dryden TX to 60

miles west southwest of Roswell NM. For a complete depiction of the

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

surface and aloft to 3 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind

gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 450. Mean

storm motion vector 24040.
