The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Far western Massachusetts

  Eastern New York

  Western and southern Vermont



* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 300 PM until

  900 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Multiple splitting supercells are possible across the

region initially with convection potentially growing into a cluster

near and east of the Hudson/Champlain Valleys.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80

statute miles north and south of a line from 80 miles west of Glens

Falls NY to 20 miles east northeast of Rutland VT. For a complete

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
