The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southwest Georgia



* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 400 PM until

  1000 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter likely

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will continue to intensify over southern

Alabama and track eastward into southwest Georgia.  Damaging winds

and hail appear to be the main threats, but there is some risk of a

tornado or two in the most intense cells.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45

statute miles east and west of a line from 35 miles east northeast

of Columbus GA to 40 miles southwest of Moultrie GA. For a complete

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
