The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Southwest Iowa

  Northeast Kansas

  Northwest Missouri

  Southeast Nebraska



* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 345 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A few tornadoes and a couple intense tornadoes possible

  Widespread damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75

    mph likely

  Widespread large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3

    inches in diameter likely



SUMMARY...Intense thunderstorms are expected to develop along a

boundary over southeast Nebraska. These storms will track

southeastward into northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri during

the late afternoon.  Supercells capable of very large hail, damaging

winds, and a few tornadoes are possible.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 50 statute miles

north and south of a line from 25 miles west northwest of Concordia

KS to 35 miles east of Falls City NE. For a complete depiction of

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

surface and aloft to 3 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind

gusts to 65 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 600. Mean
