The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  East central and southeast Colorado



* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 155 PM until

  900 PM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Widely scattered storms are expected to move off the

higher terrain and intensify this afternoon through this evening.

The initial storms will likely be splitting supercells capable of

producing large hail of 1.5 to 2 inch diameter.  Later this evening,

some upscale growth is possible into a cluster or two, with an

attendant threat for occasional severe outflow gusts as the storms

spread into southeast Colorado.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70

statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles northeast of

Limon CO to 45 miles west southwest of Springfield CO. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
