Third Day of 75+ Dew Points

Posted: 22 Jul 2025 05:30 AM

The elevated humidity was quite noticeable on Monday with dew point temperatures reaching at least 75°F for a third day in a row for Des Moines. The featured chart looks into the longest such streak each year based on IEM computations from available hourly observations for Des Moines. The average longest such streak each year is just over three days, but even five days puts the total in the top twenty listing. July and August are certainly the favored time of year as the proverbial "corn sweat" (plant transpiration) helps to buoy humidity levels this time of year. Tuesday will likely push this year's streak to four days with slightly less humid conditions on Wednesday expected.
